I like the idea of having storefronts throughout the city with art in them, but I wish I would've been able to see more. Only one really intrigued me, although I am sure if I had more information I would have come to like all of them. The first one we saw, which I don't think I understood was really interesting, I don't know why I liked it, it seem very modern and digital sort of (I don't have a picture of it.) The last one I saw was the bottom picture and it was a representation of the average use of water for each person within a certain range of countries. From there though it was pretty self explanatory, and not trying to sound ignorant because I realize everyone should have water but I've seen something like this many times. The way they used the space though was pretty nice the way they had the pipe coming throughout the space and the water at the bottom, making it all circular, which is a nice representation of how the earth's water supply should be circular, if that makes sense.

This is my site project, we were to find a space and find patterns throughout the space that we chose and then find a way to explain the pattern through our medium of choice. I chose the West Lake Center, which has trees painted in a lovely bright cobalt blue that sort of seemed to form a nice space throughout the little square. I took pictures in a circle to create a panorama and then from the computer went through each picture and illustrated the space with ink and then used water color to paint the trees.
This is my first video, using Final Cut Pro. Editing is hard! and finding the timing, everything is timing, and if you don't have good shots... you're screwed. I didn't have any good shots really but I liked these hands. It was interesting, because while making the video I had this whole idea of identity through hands and how much you can tell through them... And then when I showed my video, everyone said how much anxiety was in the video, and how it portrayed a child-like feeling of getting lost. It seemed ironic to me, because I did not aim for that, but I definetely feel that way when in Pikes, which is where I shot this. It is odd, how much you are showing sometimes and how people can read your feelings even if you don't neccessarily let them.

This has nothing to do with our assignment but while walking to find the storefronts, I saw this little guy, and it intrigued me lots.

This past week we had to take photos with linear composition and then bring as many as we could to edit a 9x9 grid. However hard I tried I could not find the right pictures to bring into class, and I tried many many times to find the right set of photos to come to class and play with. I should say that I might've given up a bit. I was focusing on the part where Tina said linear. And I could not find anything perfectly linear. But I came to class with 40 something pictures and realized that I could cheat just a bit. Cutting up pictures was my resolve, and copying a single image was how I solved my situation, to make fun designs. This is my favorite solution, it was a photo I took, possibly sneaking into a building with fun pipe work and nice lighting. It is so fun to be so stumped, and then finally figure out what to do to get what you want. These images took me quite a bit of time to learn how to make. In the beginning it was very frustrating, but by the end I was smiling like a little kid.

Ruthy talked to us today, and we were told to record the influences she found in creating her art.

Louise Bourgeouis was one of Ruthy's inspirational artists.

A bit from wikipedia: Louise Joséphine Bourgeois was a French-American artist and sculptor, best known for her contributions to both modern and contemporary art.
She is recognized today as the founder of confessional art.
In the late 1940s, she turned to sculpture. Though her works are abstract, they are suggestive of the human figure and express themes of betrayal, anxiety, and loneliness. Her work was wholly autobiographical, inspired by her childhood trauma of discovering that her English governess was also her father’s mistress.
We also looked to Sigur Ros, an Icelandic band who finds inspiration from their home to create art

She told us that you can find much art in the sites you work in, and use the space around you as inspiration.

Gary Hill
For Truth and Fiction we walked to Olympic Sculpture park and I have been reflecting on one of the pieces there. : "whatever angle you view it, the voids seem filled and the solids seem empty."
the artist has the only one perspective of the world.

RANDOM THOUGHTS FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES

this is a quote from my roommate:
A theatre is not only a literal place, but also a space where we dream together; not nearly a building, but a space that is both imaginative, and collective. Theatre cannot die before the last dream before the last dream have been dreamt.
