To Find The Place
to find the place
put your left hand
on your right elbow,
bring your right arm to the air,
plunge that right hand into your mouth
persistently drag your hand down until it’s flowing with the blood,
search for a cage made of glass,
run your hands along bars
do not break the bones,
for if you do they curiously curl,
collapsing in on a panicking heart
reach from below and with all five fingers
bring your hands into a scarce space
be careful, you are precious
did you feel for it yet?
wrap your fingers around this vessel
and pull so hard and sharp as to not skip a beat
have you caught it?
let it pulse in your hand
can you finally feel your heart?
hand it to me, its gorgeous and pounding,
and i’ll keep it close
i’ll keep it close in my cage
I can keep care
I can feel it pumping next to mine
the rhythm they make together keeps me dancing
we can dance together
your heart and mine
